FERRY SVAN DEFEND NORDIC CHAMPION TITLE AND QUALIFIES FOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2021

The STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Nordic Championship 2021 offered several records for all competition levels, both personal bests, Nordic and a World record. Winner of the PRO level was Swedish Ferry Svan who defended his title from 2019. After today’s competition, Ferry is currently ranked number one in Europe and has therefore qualified for the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Individual World Championship 2021.

After a two year long wait, the Nordic Championship in TIMBERSPORTS® was held on Saturday. The Nordic elite battled for the prestigious champion title, which also can serve as a ticket to the Individual World Championship.

Ferry Svan defended is champion title and set a new Nordic record in Single Buck with the time 11.73 seconds.

- It is a great feeling to win the Nordic Championship again. I am of course very happy and have to let it sink in. The Nordic Championship is an important competition and a possible ticket to the World Championship, says Ferry Svan after his win.

With today’s win, Ferry is currently ranked number one in Europe. He is therefore one of the twelve best athletes in the world and has secured a spot in the Individual World Championship in Munich on October 2. During the Individual World Championship 2019, Ferry ended on seventh place.

- I will continue to train hard and focus on the details that was not perfect today. Of course, I am aiming for a win at the World Championship, says Ferry Svan.

Norwegian athlete Ole Magnus Syljuberget impressed with a new world record in Stock Saw with 8.51 seconds and did personal best in two other disciplines. Ole Magnus ended on fifth place and is now the new Norwegian champion 2021.

Intermediate and Rookie
Best Rookie was Edvin Karlsson who did his second Nordic Championship.

- At the last Nordic Championship, I ended on sixth place, but I had a good feeling for today and hoped for a better placement. You never know how it is going to go, but it feels great and it is nice to get a confirmation that the training has given results, says Edvin Karlsson.

First place in the Intermediate class went to Viktor Clarmo, who after a long break from the extreme sport is now back competing again.

- It feels fantastic to be back and to compete again. I love this sport and I am very happy with today’s result. I will continue training when I come home and put some extra focus on the sawing disciplines to perform even better, says Viktor Clarmo.
