TIMBERSPORTS® Nordic Cup 2024 Concludes with Remarkable Achievements

The TIMBERSPORTS® Nordic Cup 2024 wrapped up its final leg on August 9-10 in Elverum, Norway, marking the end of this year's Nordic competition season. Emil Hansson from Sweden emerged as the overall winner of the Pro class, Denmark’s Bo Andersen grabbed the gold medal in the Rookie class, and German guest athlete Alrin Uebing took home an overall victory in the women's class.

Elverum, Norway, hosted the final leg of the Nordic Cup 2024 on August 9-10, marking the end of the Nordic competition season in TIMBERSPORTS®. Through the three events, athletes accumulated points and the overall standings after this weekend's competition are final. In the professional class, last year's World Championship runner-up, Emil Hansson, entered with two victories under his belt. In a close battle between Hansson and his countryman, Nordic champion Ferry Svan, the latter was slightly sharper on the day. However, Hansson's efforts overall secured him the overall victory in the Nordic Cup 2024, with Svan in second place and the Norwegian, Vebjørn Sønsteby, in third.

“Overall, I am pleased with an overall victory and to cap off a good Nordic season with a gold medal. Now, preparations begin for the European Trophy and the World Championships”, says Emil Hansson.

In the Women’s class, German guest competitor Alrun Uebing clinched the title, showcasing her prowess against strong contenders such as Felixia Banck from Denmark and Tove Njåstad from Sweden. Banck, in particular, made headlines with a new Danish record in Stock Saw and a Nordic record in Standing Block Chop in the final leg of the Nordic Cup.

“What a weekend it has been! The competition was intense, where hundredths and thousandths of seconds determined the victories. I finally managed to set a time in Standing Block, and it turned out to be a new Nordic record, so I am incredibly happy and proud of my performances,” says Banck, continuing:
“I am also very proud to have secured second place in the overall cup; I definitely did not expect that, but lots of training and a good day paid off.”

This weekend's final leg of the Nordic Cup marks the end of this year's Nordic competition season, but the international season continues. Remaining events include the International Women’s Cup on August 25 in Germany, the European Trophy 2024 on September 29 in Switzerland, and the World Championship 2024 on November 8-9 in France.
