The competition at Nordic TIMBERSPORTS® events this season is expected to be keener and stiffer as more athletes will be competing in the Pro division.

The 2024 Nordic TIMBERSPORTS® season launches with an impressive international presence

A new TIMBERSPORTS® season is all lined up for the Nordic athletes. The schedule of national and international events for the year has been announced and will bring athletes from Sweden, Norway and Denmark together to compete against the world’s top extreme sports athletes. The season will commence on 25th May with the World Trophy and the junior Rookie World Championship in Milan, Italy. Esben Pedersen, representing Denmark, and Ferry Svan and Emil Hansson, representing Sweden, will be competing at the season’s first event.

After the Nordic athletes have battled it out against the world’s elite in Milan, the Nordic Timbersports season will get underway, with this year’s schedule comprising the Nordic Cup, with three rounds, the Nordic Championship and the Nordic Trophy. It is expected that the number of Nordic athletes will increase in 2024 and that several of them will advance to the next division. The four divisions for TIMBERSPORTS® competitors are Pro, Intermediate, Rookie and Women. Four athletes are expected to move up to the Pro division and join the athletes already there in the battle for the titles.

– It's special to compete in a major event like the World Trophy right away. Last year I saw that a podium finish is possible, and that's my goal this year, says Ferry Svan, continuing:
– The main goal is to represent Sweden at the individual World Championships in November. Emil and I are evenly matched, and both of us train hard to be the best. In the end, it comes down to minimizing mistakes to secure the spot.

The season kicks off with the Nordic Cup in Grästorp, Sweden, on 1st and 2nd June. This year’s Nordic Championship event will be held in Malung, Sweden, between 19th and 29th July. The event will serve as a qualifier for the Individual World Championship, which will be staged in Toulouse, France, on 8th and 9th November. Last year, both Sweden and Norway made it through, but Denmark missed out on qualifying.

– It will be nice to get started and compete, as I have put extra time and effort into the preseason this year. The competition is tough, we have more athletes, and it has been close between me and Ferry in recent seasons, says Emil Hansson, continuing:
– The competition demands more and motivates me to improve. If you want to win, you need to stay focused.

The international competition season will also be streamed live on Facebook and YouTube. The 2024 Nordic Championship will be broadcast live too.
